Show #262 – Compilations

You know those compilation albums that used to be advertised in the back of TV Guide, on the local access TV station, yeah, those.  That was back when the only way to get the word out about a product was in print or an ad that flashed a phone number to call.  But wait, there’s more!  Those old compilation albums were a way to get that ability to turn your record player into a finely tuned personal music playing device just like the radio.  So different today.  That’s why those old compilation albums still ring a solid tone with us here at Bakersfield & Beyond.  And here’s the playlist with some of those albums.

Show #261 – Show #261

I guess you could say that the most recent show was just your basic run of the mill Bakersfield and Beyond. We played some albums, we played some CDs, we celebrated some Bakersfield Sound birthdays, and we spun some new releases to kick the show off. No real concrete plan, but picking songs as we went along, including a tiny “honky tonk” inspired set.

It’s just fun to go into Studio A at KWMR and play tunes. We warmed up the seats for our friends Smelley and Owen who host Highway of Heartaches every other week right after Bakersfield and Beyond.

Hope you enjoyed the show!
