A Smelley Good Time During Pledge Drive

It’s pledge drive time at KWMR and that means we get to have a deep, intimate conversation with Red Meat‘s Smelley Kelley on Bakerfield & Beyond.  We wasted on time devolving into whether we were wearing pants or not – radio offers certain liberties.  We set a lofty goal of raising $1,000 for the station.  By the end of two hours we have gotten half that, but everything counts and we appreciate every pledge.  And a big thanks to Smelley for spending time on the phone with us trying to roust folks pledge their support to this little community radio station.  Thanks for everyone who listened and pledged.

And if you are in the San Francisco area on April 27, you can help Red Meat celebrate their 20th year as a band at the 23 Club in Brisbane, CA.

Analog-a-licious

Tonight’s show was an all vinyl affair, except for the opening and closing songs and one by Buck Nickels & Loose Change (to help promote their show this weekend at Quincy’s Pub & Cafe in Ronhert Park on Satuday March 16).  Two hours goes by pretty darn fast when cuing up all that vinyl.  But those old LPs sure do sound great with all their scratching and skipping, hissing and popping.  Okay, most of the albums sounded pretty good and clean.  If you listened, we hope you enjoyed the show.  Here’s the playlist with some videos.
