Bakersfield in Nashville

Last week, Amanda was in Nashville for some business and got a chance to visit the “Bakersfield Sound” exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame.  Twice.  Twice because once simply wasn’t enough to soak in the whole exhibit.  Tonight on Bakersfield & Beyond, Mike interviews Amanda about the experience and we get to play some of the music she brought back.  Here’s the playlist and some fun youtube clips.

That’s a nice coat!

If there is one guy who is all hat and cattle, it’s Tim Hus, writer and singer of the Bakersfield & Beyond opening song “Bakersfield Music.”  Tim has a brand new CD out that was just released and we received a copy in the mail today.  Not wasting any time, we dug right into the music and spun a couple of great tracks.  Amanda couldn’t get over how great and happy Tim looks in his leather coat on the cover of the CD.

In addition to Tim Hus’s new CD, we played some other new music, some old music, and some in between music.  In the new music category, Vince Gill and Paul Franklin have a new CD titled “Bakersfield,” which is, you guessed it, all covers of classic Bakersfield Sound tubes.  Another good one to have in your collection.

Make sure you tune in for the next show on September 26 because Mike will be interviewing Amanda about her trip to Nashville and the AMA Conference and her planned visit to the Bakersfield Sound exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame.  Sure to be some good stuff.
