Recap playlist summary – Sept. 29 show

We got a surprise, spur of the moment visit from Maurice Tani from 77 El Deora tonight.  He stopped by the studio to chat and tell us about the 77 El Deora show coming up on October 16 at Rancho Nicasio.  It’s a dinner show and dinner at Rancho is always a treat (I particularly like their pork chops).  How good does that get!  Tasty dinner and a great show – all from the same seat!

After Maurice had to skedaddle, it was on to music.  So, here’s the playlist and some you tube clips.

This is a song off 77 El Deora’s new album “The Crown and The Crow’s Confession.”

What a great collection of musicians, The Highwaymen – Waylon, Johnny, Kris, Willie.

Knocking it out of the park

Tonight was our pledge drive show for KWMR’s fall pledge drive.  We went into the studio with a fairly significant goal to raise $1000 within two hours. By show’s end we had received pledges totaling almost $1200.  Super big thanks goes out to everyone who called in with a pledge or pledged on-line.  Big thanks also to Smelley Kelley from Red Meat who called in to help us pitch.  Smelley called in while packing for a three day/four gig whirlwind tour in SoCal.  If find yourself in Culver City on Friday, you can catch them at the Cinema Bar.  Another big thanks to our local pal Ingrid Noyes for calling in.  Ingrid was calling in from Hoboken, NJ where she is handling banjo tech duties for Warren Hellmen’s Wronglers with Jimmie Dale Gilmour east coast tour.

The playlist is short, but what is most important is the Bakersfield & Beyond’s fans stepped up and greatly helped KWMR with the pledge drive.  THANK YOU!

And before I forget, another show on KWMR is “Ridin’ The Rails:  The Americana Express.”  Folks who listen to “Bakersfield & Beyond” know that we do love us some X, The Knitters, and John Doe.  Well, John Doe was in the studio on “Ridin’ The Rails” yesterday and played a short acoustic set.  You can catch the show via KWMR’s archive of shows.  The archived show is available to listen for two weeks following the show.  Check it out at this link.

Here’s the James Intveld track we played and hey!, that looks like our pal Dave Gleason on guitar.
