‘Twas A Bakersfield & Beyond Christmas

‘Twas a Bakersfield & Beyond Christmas,
And all through the Crystal Palace,
Nothing stirred, not even the bar keep.
For the martinis were shaken, not stirred.
As Amanda and Mike spun the songs,
The temperature plummeted,
Frost grew on the ground…

Well, you get the idea.  We had a fun Christmas show pretty much in the “Beyond’ realm of things.  But there were a couple of moments of pure Bakersfield Sound.  Merle Haggards “If We Make It Through December,” and Los Straitjackets excellent version of “Jingle Bells,” which had a heavy dose of Don Rich’s guitar lick from “Buckaroo.”  Gotta keep it real.  All in all, we had a great time mixing it up and playing some fun Christmas tunes.  So, here’s the playlist and some youtube clips – provided I can find clips of the songs we played.

Have a safe and merry holiday everyone and thanks for listening!

December 8 Recap and Playlist

Had fun tonight.  We had some listeners from as far away as Iowa.  Right there in Red Meat country.  Speaking of Red Meat, their annual Yuletide at the Riptide is this Saturday Dec. 10 at The Riptide in San Francisco.  If you go, bring an unwrapped toy.  Another holiday event is happening at the Mystic Theater in Petaluma.  Our pal Arann Harris presents the Holiday Hoedown.  Be sure to check this all ages show on December 18 at 5:00 p.m.  Thanks for listening and here’s some fun stuff for y’all.
