Soulajar Goes Country!

It had been not quite 3 years since we met Brian Boozer of the band Soulajar.  Tonight we caught up with Brian and talked about Soulajar’s new twang-alicious track “Love’s A Funny Thing.”  Talking with Brian, we learned that this new track reached #7 on Amazon.com’s Country-Rock download chart.  That’s a great thing because proceeds of the sale of this song during April and May will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life – Bakersfield this May.

Check out the song here and then go an purchase it to help out some great guys and a great cause.  Thanks for taking time out from your parental duties to talk with us, Brian!

Alrighty.  Here’s the playlist and some youtube clips.  We played a few tracks in tribute to two great musicians who recently passed away and one for a musician who is on the mend.  The music world recently lost Levon Helm of The Band and Chris Etheridge of the Flying Burrito Brothers.  We also learned yesterday that Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees came out of a 12 day coma and is in the process of recovering.  Wishing you well, Robin!  Enjoy and thanks for listening.

The Band – “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down”

This is one of the Flying Burrito Brothers songs that was co-written by Chris Etheridge.

One more Thursday, one more Playlist

I think this is something around show #75.  And it’s still damn fun.  We had a good time tonight spinning some CDs, some vinyl.  Something old, something new.  Hey, in case you didn’t know it, today is Homer Joy’s birthday.  Homer wrote and performed some classic tunes.  He’s probably best known for writing a little tune called “Streets of Bakersfield.”  We talked with Homer almost three years ago – dang, has it been three years already?  The excerpt from that show with Homer is available to listen at the following link:  Homer Joy Interview.  Happy Birthday, Homer.  Hope you had a great time.

Here’s some youtube clips and the playlist from tonight to keep you occupied for the next 20 minutes or so.
