Show #233 – Waylon

Why not do a tribute show to Waylon Jennings? Amanda and her husband Ken just got a puppy and named him Waylon, and he’s about the cutest thing…ever. Plus, Waylon Jennings had so much great music, some songs that he wrote, and so many covers that were done of his songs, or songs that he covered. He’s got a robust history, for an artist that died too young. We don’t really need a reason to do a tribute to Waylon, but we had one, so why not?

So we are going along, playing tunes and Mike discovers that tomorrow (6/15) is Waylon Jennings’ birthday. Bonus!

Started the show off with a set of brand new honky tonk style releases. Some good stuff, including Joshua Hedley and Sarah Shook and the Disarmers. We also threw in a little Buck and Merle and a tune from our pals in Red Meat who just celebrated their 25th anniversary as a band! We closed the show out with Buddy Holly “Don’t Fade Away.” Good advice. Don’t fade away.
