Show #224 – Brought To You By Pearl

First show using the new broadcast console. Welcome Pearl to the KWMR family of equipment. All equipment should be named. The backup generator is called “Hot Juice!” Pearl was named by Shorty, who hosts “Shorty’s Bunkhouse,”which is on every Thursday that “Bakersfield and Beyond” is not. You can’t go wrong. Here is Pearl. She is a looker, complete with two sets of meters and some bright, bright lights!

Pearl

We had a party to send off the Soundcraft console in style.

Cake

Here is the very delicious cake that was made in honor of the old Soundcraft RM100. The old console has found a home with Ant, who co-hosts “Off the Cuff” which follows Bakersfield and Beyond. Can’t wait to see what he does with the historic board, through which so many KWMR programs have been broadcast.

When Shorty named the board Pearl, Amanda was on the air with her. She immediately thought of the Tommy Collins song, “Skinny.” Below is a great video of Tommy Collins on Buck Owen’s TV show, and then below that, a file of the song “Skinny.” Could not find a live version of Tommy Collins doing that show. But in case you were wondering…Pearl is a girl.
