Show #220 – The Women Take The Stage

Sometimes when throwing down some good ol’ honky tonk, it can seem pretty dude-centric. There were more men taking the lead on radio and television programs as the hosts and as bandleaders. The truth is, that there were many women taking the stage, writing great songs (some that were recorded and popularized by men). The entertainment industry is a pretty male dominated place, and as we have learned through the media, environments of harassment exist in the entertainment industry, as well as in many other industries.

At Bakersfield and Beyond things are pretty darn equitable. We share the responsibilities of the production of the show, take turns engineering and both pick out the tunes. I was pleasantly surprised when Mike sent me a message saying he had a playlist of songs by women. Sweet! Enjoy the tunes!
