New acquisitions are not a regular occurrence at Bakersfield and Beyond. There was a gathering of vinyl and CDs early on and there is enough material that it takes more that one trip to get it all into the studio, so it’s mostly parsed out. However, Mike showed up with some new vinyl and it set the tone for the show.
Kay Adams’ album “Alcohol and Tears” is a winner. Chock full of great tunes and it is in great shape, to boot. Another new one from Buck Owens and Susan Raye “The Good Old Days (Are Here Again)” proved a favorite among listeners. While not new, the Gene Clark Album “Collector’s Series: Early L.A. Sessions” had been missing. I found it at my house and returned it to the show troves of tunes.
The rest of the show emerged organically with some CDs, more vinyl and some tunes off the laptop. We rocked, we rolled, there was some honky tonk and a bit of beyond. But Buck and Merle were both represented in the mix.
You can listen to the archive of the show until December 13, 2017 HERE.
