Show #200 – Two Hundred!

Well, according to Mike’s very good record-keeping, this may or may not have been show #200, but it was playlist #200, so maybe it was! We ran with it. Other than chatting with our pal Robert Price, it was pretty much business as usual in Studio A. Robert is a senior editor at the Bakersfield Californian newspaper and the author of “The Bakersfield Sound: How a Generation of Displaced Okies Revolutionized American Music.” Bakersfield and Beyond even has a mention in the book. A second edition, published by Heyday Books in Berkeley, is coming out this year!

Vinyl was spun, CDs were pulled and tracks played. Some new, some old, some Sly and the Family Stone in honor of the passing of Merle Haggard’s long-time horn player Don Markham. And even a tune from musician and brother of co-host Amanda, Ian Jones.

Our next show will be a KWMR Pledge Drive show, the drive will celebrate Independent Media, so very important now and always. KWMR is keeping the flame alive in West Marin and beyond and you can show your support by clicking HERE! If you appreciate the music that we play, please contribute. Shorty, of Shorty’s Bunkhouse, will join the fun on Thursday, March 23.
