Show #197 – Why Don’t We Duet In The Road

We like JP Harris. Ever since his first album came out which included the tune “Badly Bent,” and featured his most impressive beard, we were fans. JP visited Bakersfield and Beyond several years ago while on a trip to California. The dude tours like a maniac and has several projects going all the time. His most recent is basically an EP, on 45s, featuring duets with some amazing female singers. It’s called “Why Don’t We Duet In the Road.” Mike grabbed one of these straight away and we played a few tunes from the new collection. And what is not to like about a dude who’s website is ilovehonkeytonk!

Another musician, out of Chicago, that Mike discovered a few years back is Ike Reilly, a phenomenal songwriter with a tasty edge. While not a honky tonk or California Country Music icon, this is Bakersfield and BEYOND…

Ike Reilly, who normally keeps his touring closer to home, will do two shows in California in February (20th and 21st). Highly recommend you check out his tunes. See you there.

And our pal Robert Price, with his book “The Bakersfield Sound,”  continues to sell copies of this gem. You can grab yours HERE, or ask your local, independent bookseller to order one for you from the publisher.

Three more shows until 200!
