Silver Wings and Power Supplies

For a couple of weeks, the sound quality at KWMR had been deteriorating.  A horrible thing for a radio station.  It was determined by a crack team that the power supply that powers the engineering board needed replacement.  As it turned out the replacement power supply arrived today and with the team in place, we went off the air for a few minutes during Bakersfield & Beyond to swap it out.  Less than five minutes later, with the new power supply in place, it was immediately clear that that did the trick.  The sound quality improved dramatically and many of the features of the board that had failed were back on-line.  Oh happy days!

We started the show with four covers of “Silver Wings,” written by Merle Haggard.  Then we just went where the music took us.

  1. Joey Harris of the Beat Farmers here. Thanks for including us with our friends, Dwight and Doe and Dave, the Mavs and Lone Justice, and of course Ruby Dee and the Snakehandlers, playing my song, Make it Last.
Stop in and see me with the Mentals next time you’re in San Diego.

It’s out pleasure to spin some of the Beat Farmers’ tunes – long time fans. We also did not know you wrote “Make It Last.” That song is also our closing song for Bakersfield & Beyond. Thank you for reaching out, Joey. Would love to catch you if we’re ever in San Diego – or let us know if you make it up to the SF Bay area.
      Thanks again.
      Mike & Amanda
