It was 39 years ago yesterday

It was 39 years ago yesterday when Don Rich passed away in what some see as a controversial motorcycle accident.  The man brought into the Buckaroos by Buck Owens who made that silver telecaster shine died at a young age on  Highway 1 in Moro Bay.  As much as Don is known for the twang of the Bakersfield Sound, he was a very accomplished musician at a very early age.  In 1957, when he was just 16, Don opened for Elvis Presley at a show in Tacoma, Washington.  Don Rich, you are missed, but your music lives to inspire.

In addition to a great guitarist, Don Rich was also a very accomplished fiddle player.

And then we played a set of Dave Gonzales themed music – Hacienda Brothers, The Paladins, Stone River Boys, and what the heck some Chris Gaffney too.
