First Show of the New Year – Our Top 20 (19)

First show of the new year means that we each, independently, compile a top 10 list of our favorite songs that we played in the last year.  There was only one duplicate song on our list:  John Doe’s “Little Tiger.”  One duplicate gave us a total of 19 songs for our year end top list.  I don’t think either of us had any real method to our madness of choosing the tunes.  As I was starting to pick tunes, I did start to consciously choose songs that weren’t really “traditional” Bakersfield Sound songs, just songs that I really enjoyed and wanted to hear again tonight on the air.  We did get a phone call during the show requesting some Buck or Dwight or Merle and with time at the end of the show, we obliged the caller with some classic Bakersfield Sound tunes.  We had a great time picking out songs and playing them.  Hope you had as much fun listening.  Here’s to 2012 as Bakersfield and Beyond soon starts its 4th year on the air.
