Post show review Aug. 18

Fun time again in KWMR‘s Studio A.  Fun mix of music from Joe Maphis and Wynn Stewart all the way to John Doe’s not quite release new CD Keeper.  In fact, Yep Roc Records is enabling a song a day from the new John Doe album to be heard up until its release on August 29.  Check this link for more info.

We also caught up, via telephone, with Smelley Kelley from Red Meat who made it a whole five minutes before he told us he wasn’t wearing pants.  Red Meat will be headlining the 10th Annual Sleepless Nights – Gram Parsons Tribute show at the Great American Music Hall on Saturday August 27.  Also appearing will be:  Chuck Prophet & Stephanie Finch, Sweet Chariot, East Bay Grease, Big Eagle, Gypsy Moonlight Band, Paula Frazer.  Really looking forward to catching this show.

We also played a song from our buddy, Dr. BLT’s brother’s band Prelom.  Dr. BLT’s brother was visiting Bakersfield from Slovakia so it was nice to have them listening in and taking the show beyond…

Dave Gleason had just finished playing with Nick 13 at Amoeba Records in San Francisco when he spoke with us tonight.  Here’s one of him playing a classic Merle Haggard tune also from Amoeba Records.
