Going not so far beyond with John Doe

What a treat it was to have John Doe (The Knitters and X) on the phone with us tonight.  I’ve been a huge fan of his since I first heard X in the late 70’s.  The one thing that we’ve noticed when we get a chance to talk with guys and gals like John and Dave Alvin, Exene Cervenka, Rosie Flores, Chris Hillman, Homer Joe, Merle Haggard, is that they are all really nice normal folks who enjoy talking with us.

John Doe informed us that he has an album coming out in August and with him being a Marin County neighbor, we are going to work on getting him into the KWMR studios with us sometime for a little live Bakersfield & Beyond session.  And to further the Bakersfield connection, John lived in Bakersfield for several years.  Well, actually Oildale so we know he’s tough.

So, on to some clips and the playlist.
