Back on the air and a special in-studio guest

After a one month hiatus, missing just one show makes 4 weeks between shows, we hit the air with a super fun show.  Tonight we had singer-songwriter RJ Jones on the air with us.  RJ wrote songs for Buck Owens’ publishing company, Blue Book publishing in the early 70’s.  RJ prefaced his visit to KWMR by sending us a disc of previously unreleased music found in the vault of the Buck Owens Foundation that RJ recorded with Don Rich and the Buckaroos.  All of which are really great to hear and play on air for the first time.  A couple of RJ’s songs are Ozark Mountain Lullaby and California Okie.

The music was great and RJ, himself, was great as well with the stories he brought with him about Tommy Collins, Red Simpson (who is celebrating his birthday March 6), Don Rich and Buck Owens.  We hope to have RJ out for another visit.  Next time, hopefully, with his guitar and some songs since he is still a working song writer.
