Show recap from January 20, 2011

As is the case during the cold and flu season, Bakersfield & Beyond’s Amanda was out last night recovering from a cold.  I sat down and put together a little playlist that was fun to play.  Hope it was fun to listen to as well!  Not much special going on, but I did play some rockabilly tunes by The Paladins after watching a DVD from Amanda titled “Rebel Beat:  The Story of L.A. Rockabilly.”  If you get a chance it was a good watch.  There was some great footage of Ray Camp and Janis Martin talking about the music.  It also provided a good link between the West Coast country music of Bakersfield and the rockabilly beat.  And Dave Gonzales from The Paladins as well as D.J. Bonebrake from X were featured as well.  And…well, just go watch it (it’s on Netflix too).

And in honor of the Dave Alvin, Nina Gerber, Christy McWilson show that we caught last week, here’s a little Guilty Women clip
