Thursday 3/4/10 playlist and follow up

We had a super fun show last night.  As usual the time flies by much too quickly.  Talked with Dave Gleason as he prepares for his show here at Rancho Nicasio with the band The Golden Cadillacs.  Dave was originally a Bay Area musician who moved to the Los Angeles area because that’s what it took for him to move his music and career to the next level.  It’s obvious he kicks ass and works incredibly hard.  Just a look at his upcoming concert schedule on his myspace page will show how hard he’s working.

Dave also sent up a couple pre-release recordings from an album that is scheduled to come out this summer.  We hope you were able to catch the show.  And we hope you catch our next show March 18.  That show will mark our one year anniversary and it also marks the day we will be asking listeners to pledge support to KWMR during the station’s twice per year pledge drive.  We hope you can pitch in and support our community radio station and keep Bakersfield & Beyond on the air for many years to come!

We also talked to Dave about his use of the B-Bender on his Telecaster.  Here’s a really good interview with Gene Parsons who, with the great, late guitarist, Clarence White, invented the B-Bender.

We played Rosie Flores’ “This Cat’s in the Doghouse” in honor of the video of this song being recently released.  Couldn’t find it, but here’s a great cover of “Big River.”

Couldn’t find Tommy Collins’ cover of “The Wreck of the Old ’97,” but here’s a song I haven’t hear him sing – really good tune.
