Playlist from May 28 show

Thursday May 28 was a super fun show with Jay Bonet and his Buckaroo Bonet band mates in the studio.  We also had a couple of requests that we couldn’t wrangle the songs – one was John Doe’s version of the Merle Haggard tune, Silver Wings.  It was only after the show that I remembered that the song is actually on The Knitters CD Poor Little Critter on the Road.  We’ll play that one for you next show, Bruce.

So, on to the playlist.  The list is shorter due to a bunch of songs Jay Bonet and his band mates played live, one of which was an Elvis tune Mystery Train that rocked.  We played a couple of Red Meat songs in honor of their coming out to play KWMR’s The Far West Fest on July 25.  We’ll also have a couple band members on air for an interview on July 9.

  1. No problem with regard to the request of Silver Wings. It will give me one more thing to look forward to for the next show.

  2. BTW, I like the idea Mike mentioned about devoting a show to drinking songs. You could play Jay Bonet’s Beer, Beer, Beer; a song such as Swingin’ Doors by Merle Haggard, and, if I may be sold bold, The Bottle’s Gettin’ Bigger by yours truly.

  3. Great playlists you guys have going! Would love to see something w/ Bill Frisell on guitar…he’s got such a sweet Tele tone that Bakersfieldiens all recognize. Doesn’t hurt that he nearly exclusively plays Harmonic Design pickups (which are made right here in Bakersfield). If the instrumental thing wouldn’t work in your format, maybe something from when he’s backing Loudon Wainwright III (Recovery), or Kelly Joe Phelps (Slingshot Professionals). Keep up the great work!

Instrumentals are no problem! We’ll get his guitar on the air soon. You don’t have to twist my arm to play Loudon Wainwright III either.

      Thanks!
